Approximation to a Parabolic System Modeling the Thermoelastic Contacts of Two Rods

چکیده
In this article, we study a sequence of finite difference approximate solutions to a parabolic system, which models two dissimilar rods that may come into contact as a result of thermoelastic expansion. We construct the approximate solutions based on a set of finite difference schemes to the system, andwewill prove that the approximate solutions converge strongly to the exact solutions. Moreover, we obtain and prove rigorously the error bound, which measures the difference between the exact solutions and approximate solutions in a reasonable norm. c © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A Nonlocal Parabolic System with Application to a Thermoelastic Problem
A system modeling the thermoelastic bards contacts is studied. The problem is first transformed into an equivalent nonlocal parabolic systems using a transformation, and then the existence and uniqueness of the solutions are demonstrated via the theoretical potential representation theory of the parabolic equations. Finally some realistic situations in the applications are discussed using the r...

With the rapid growth of indoor wireless communication systems, the need to accurately model radio wave propagation inside the building environments has increased. Many site-specific methods have been proposed for modeling indoor radio channels. Among these methods, the ray tracing algorithm and the finite-difference time domain (FDTD) method are the most popular ones. The ray tracing approach ...
متن کاملDecay rates for elastic-thermoelastic star-shaped networks
This work discusses the asymptotic behavior of a transmission problem on star-shaped networks of interconnected elastic and thermoelastic rods. Elastic rods are undamped, of conservative nature, while the thermoelastic ones are damped by thermal effects. We analyze the overall decay rate depending of the number of purely elastic components entering on the system and the irrationality properties...
متن کاملAPPROXIMATION OF STOCHASTIC PARABOLIC DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS WITH TWO DIFFERENT FINITE DIFFERENCE SCHEMES
We focus on the use of two stable and accurate explicit finite difference schemes in order to approximate the solution of stochastic partial differential equations of It¨o type, in particular, parabolic equations. The main properties of these deterministic difference methods, i.e., convergence, consistency, and stability, are separately developed for the stochastic cases.
متن کاملParameter determination in a parabolic inverse problem in general dimensions
It is well known that the parabolic partial differential equations in two or more space dimensions with overspecified boundary data, feature in the mathematical modeling of many phenomena. In this article, an inverse problem of determining an unknown time-dependent source term of a parabolic equation in general dimensions is considered. Employing some transformations, we change the inverse prob...
